Block 3

I signed up for The Great American Afghan knit along and The Twist Yarn Shop. This is the first block that was chosen to knit. I love how it turned out! I wasn't so sure when I was knitting it, but once I started blocking it I fell in love with it.

Another One Bites the Dust

I went to my LYS this weekend and met with some of the other ladies that have joined the Mitten of the Month Club. We discussed some ideas for upcoming mittens, even gloves, that we would like to try. I then asked the question "How do you pick up stitches without getting holes to fix when finishing the thumbs". No one had an answer, so I went to my trusty source Youtube and found this video. (I can't figure out how to show the video you will just have to click the link).
I gave it a try because I really didn't have anything to loose. It actually worked. I couldn't believe it. This is my first new thing I have learned this year. Hmm maybe I should work on learning one new thing a month.

Also this weekend I finished my Dashing mittens. I didn't make them as long as the pattern calls for.

Rhetoric Sock

Well folks the day has come. I finally finished my socks from November Sock of the month. I can't tell you how many times that I have ripped out the heal. Not just on one sock, but on both of them. This is not a difficult sock to knit. It is a little different. One way that it is different is the fact that it is toe-up. Another way that it is different is you don't pick up your gusset stitches you knit them as you go. I got a little confused. Two times. Oh well. I am finished with them and really like the way they turned out.

Plant owner: 81 jobs at risk | McDowellNews.com

While reading another blog this morning she was talking about this article, Plant owner: 81 jobs at risk | McDowellNews.com. It is to bad that the state our nation is in that we continue to lose more and more jobs. I wish something would happen soon.

Hats, Mitts and Booties

One of the girls at work just recently found out that she was going to be a grandmother. She decided that she was going to crochet a baby blanket for the new bundle of joy. She then brought the extra yarn to work and asked if I would be able to crochet a hat, mitts and booties to go along with the blanket. She said that she wasn't comfortable enough yet in her crochet to do so. I told her that I would be glad to. This is what I came up with. I hope she enjoys them.

P.S. The toe of my second sock is finished. Will be starting the cable pattern soon.

Progress Bar

I added a progress bar on the right hand side. You can also click the title of the project and it will link you to the patterns on Ravelry. For you to be able to see the patterns you will have to create a profile for Ravelry. It's free and there are tons of patterns. This is the first place I go to when I am looking for patterns. Enjoy and have a productive day!

What the Heck Was I Thinking?

Okay. I think I must be loosing my mind. I am getting further behind in my projects. I have signed up at the LYS for a Sock of the Month club. I was doing really well the first couple of months. I am currently on November's Sock. It is called Rhetoric by Kiersten Brandt.

I just finished one sock on Saturday. Grr.

The sock pattern for December is Easy Peasy Zigzag Socks by Julia Reide.

Then the January sock pattern is Nippers by Tanya Bangart.

That is just the socks. I don't know what I was thinking when I signed up for the mitten of the month club in October. I did finish the October and November patterns for this club. I haven't even started the Mitten for December which is Dashing by Cheryl Naimath.

Then I just got an email the other day for the January mitten, Lotus Mittens by Heather Desserud.

OMG!!!! Really. On the plus side I do have the yarn for the two mittens and all put January's sock. Now to make matters worse I went and signed up yesterday for this......

What the heck was I thinking? Someone stop me before this madness gets out of control.

I will keep you posted on the progress of this mess.
